New DoD Contracting Rules Allow for a Flexible “Market Basket” ApproachWhen Providing DFARS Compliant Fasteners
The FY 2008 Defense Authorization Act provided fastener manufacturers with an additional way to provide fasteners that comply with the DFARS specialty metals clause (10 USC 2533b). The new regulations allow a fastener manufacturer to self-certify that it purchases not less than 50% of its specialty metals (as defined by 10 USC 2533b) from domestic sources, and therefore its commercial fasteners are compliant with the DFARS requirements on specialty metals. At the request of fastener manufacturers that may choose this method of compliance, IFI will include the name of the manufacturer in a listing on our website. Click here for more information.
